September 24, 2014

MOEA (Ministry of Economic Affairs) said that Taiwan's export orders in August stood at US$38.2 billion, up 5.2% year on year, reported United Daily News on September 23. Export orders for electronic products totaled US$9.8 billion in August, rising 12.6% year on year, thanks to the launch of Apple iPhone 6, related stock-up of electric components, and favorable circumstances in upstream IC design, foundry, packaging & testing, and DRAM manufacturing. Besides, export orders for Taiwanese notebook PCs also grew 5.1% year on year, as the global PC market is riding a wave of replacement demand. MOEA estimates that Taiwan's overall export orders will reach US$450 billion in full year 2014.
